Changed traffic conditions are in place on the Toukley Bridge this week while essential maintenance work is carried out.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the work carried out by Transport for NSW would involve installing access platforms and carrying out maintenance below the bridge.
“Toukley Bridge has provided an essential connection between Toukley and Gorokan since 1985 when it replaced the pre-war timber bridge at this location,” Mr Crouch said.
“These improvements will cause some inconvenience to drivers, but I know the local community will appreciate this bridge getting a well-overdue refresh.
“It’s great to see work is being carried out by Transport for NSW to ensure the continued safe operation of the bridge for many more years to come.”
To minimise noise and impact on motorists, the work will be carried out between 6pm and 4am from Monday, 7 September and will be completed in four nights, weather permitting.
Most of the work will be carried out using scaffolding under the bridge and one lane will be closed.
Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists. Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
