Young people living on the Central Coast will enjoy the sound of music and the process of making it with a new music and performance room to be established at PCYC Bateau Bay, thanks to funding from the NSW Government.
Minister for Regional Youth Bronnie Taylor and Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast Adam Crouch today announced $150,164 from the Stronger Country Communities Fund to build a purpose-built room and purchase musical instruments and sound equipment.
Mrs Taylor said Bateau Bay PCYC runs a regular affordable music group which is popular among local youth but there is currently no dedicated space to host performances.
“Creativity can be a fantastic outlet for life’s challenges and can help build self confidence, that’s why I so pleased to annouce funding for this dedicated music and performance space,”Mrs Taylor said.
“This will help make the music program accessible to more young people in the community.
“This is a great example of the kind of youth projects that this round of the Stronger Country Communities Fund was designed to deliver – projects that help young people learn new skills, make communities more connected and fun, and also support the local economy.”
Mr Crouch said the music and performance room is one of more than 250 youth-focussed projects worth more than $50 million, funded by the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
“I congratulate Bateau Bay PCYC on their commitment to supporting young people on the Central Coast and securing this grant will make their vision become a reality,” Mr Crouch said.
“The music and performance program is already receiving great feedback and I am delighted that Government funding can deliver these skills development opportunities for young people across our region.”
