Central Coast Surf Life Saving Clubs will share in $4 million in funding as part of the NSW Government’s Surf Club Facility Program.
Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said Surf Clubs at Wamberal, Avoca Beach and The Entrance would benefit.
“We want to ensure lifesavers have the best possible facilities to support their work patrolling the beaches and keeping both locals and visitors safe,” Mr Crouch said.
“Surf Clubs are also valuable community gathering places used throughout the year for a range of activities and events.
“I want to congratulate Wamberal, Avoca Beach and The Entrance Surf Life Saving Clubs for successfully receiving this funding to upgrade their facilities.”
The successful funding recipients include:
- Wamberal Surf Life Saving Club – $90,000 – Construction of storage room,
- Avoca Beach Surf Life Saving Club – $59,818 – Refurbishment of male and female amenities and change rooms, and
- The Entrance Surf Life Saving Club – $57,000 – Installation of solar panels and refurbishment of amenities.
Surf Life Saving NSW CEO Steve Pearce said the grants would ensure Surf Clubs remained safe, accessible and secure.
“Surf Life Saving Clubs are often the hub of their communities and our volunteer lifesavers should have access to fit-for-purpose facilities so they can focus on saving lives,” Mr Pearce said.
The Surf Club Facility Program awards grants to Surf Life Saving Clubs for the upgrade and construction of facilities that will make a significant contribution to improving the usage and safety of swimmers at NSW beaches. Grants of $30,000-$350,000 have been awarded to 26 Surf Life Saving Clubs for the upgrade and construction of facilities.
