$15 Million For Central Coast Social Housing

A new apartment complex on the Central Coast will soon be home to 60 locals at risk of homelessness, with the NSW Government calling for community housing providers (CHPs) to tender for a 20 year property management partnership.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the new $15.3 million residential building on Beane Street, Gosford will be delivered by the NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC).

“When the first sets of keys are handed over for these 41 units next year, residents will only be a short walk away from Gosford Station, Gosford Hospital, local schools and nearby shops, and important support services,” Mr Crouch said.

“The development, which commenced construction in August last year, will be comprised of 21 one-bedroom units and 20 two-bedroom units.

“It is important that we find a local provider to make sure these high-quality homes are maintained and looked after.”

Minister for Water, Property and Housing MelindaPavey said the Bean Street social homes were another example of the NSW Government’s commitment to supporting families and protecting communities.

“Longer leases give CHPs greater certainty over their portfolio and their rental income, allowing them to schedule maintenance to protect the assets they manage for years to come,” Mrs Paveysaid.

“CHPs can also use the revenue streams from 20 year leases to expand their portfolio so they can deliver even more homes for their community housing tenants.”

The keys to Bean Street homes are expected to be available late 2022.
