With news that the Minns Labor Government have backflipped on their funding withdrawal threat to Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club, Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch has labelled the move a win for the community.
After relentlessly being pursued on the matter in the NSW Parliament by Shadow Minister for Sport Eleni Petinos and Mr Crouch, the Minns Labor Government have finally granted a funding extension to the club, enabling them to continue vital facility upgrades.
“I am pleased to confirm Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club will no longer have their $500,000 of infrastructure funding grant stripped by the Minns Labor Government, enabling the club to continue with their vital renovations.”
“This funding was awarded by the former Liberal-National Government as part of the 2021-22 Surf Club Facility Fund, which is designed to enable our local volunteer surf clubs to develop their facilities and increase participation in Surf Life Saving.”
“I was proud to stand with the Shadow Minister for Sport, Eleni Petinos, to call out the Minns Labor Government’s shameless money grab attempt and together we demanded that this funding be guaranteed for our community” Mr Crouch said.
Mr Crouch said that Labor’s backflip is a win for the community, he would continue to call on the Minns Labor Government to guarantee funding to Copacabana Surf Life Saving Club, which like Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club, faced funding withdrawal threats.
“I will continue to call out this shameless behaviour by the Minns Labor Government the Minister for Sport, and my community demands that this government guarantee promised funding to Copacabana Surf Life Saving Club.” said Mr Crouch
