Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch has criticised the recent announcement from the Federal and State Labor Governments of an additional $1.2 million in funding for the upgrade of the Tumbi Road intersection after calling for major investment prior to this year’s Federal Budget.
“This $1.2 million in funding should have been provided a year ago but given the bungling by both the Federal and State Labor governments, we have seen this $387 million road project continue to languish and come to a complete standstill.”
“Let’s be very clear – both the Federal and State Labor Governments subjected this upgrade to an unnecessary infrastructure review, needlessly delaying the project, and have only now provided the absolute bare minimum funding necessary to open an expression of interest process.”
“While all the local Labor Members are congratulating themselves on this funding, the fact of the matter is that over the past twelve months they have been missing in action on this issue and this is simply not good enough for the 26,000 commuters who use the Central Coast Highway every day.”
Mr Crouch said given the current rate of investment from the State and Federal Governments on the road, the project will take 350 years to be completed and called on the State Labor Government to provide significant infrastructure funding in this year’s NSW Budget.
“I’ll be calling on the Minister for Regional Roads to provide the massive investment necessary in this year’s NSW Budget for this congesting busting project to recommence, as all the State Labor Government has done is re-announce money already provided by the former Liberal-National Government” said Mr Crouch.
