Central Coast Council is being encouraged to apply for funding from the NSW Government’s new Boating Access Dredging Program.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said the program would provide more funding in a more flexible way.

“As part of the new Boating Access Dredging Program Central Coast Council will be offered up to 75 per cent of the total project cost up to a maximum of $500,000,” Mr Crouch said.

“This compares to a 50 per cent share of the total project cost, which was previously provided through the Rescuing Our Waterways Program.

“The NSW Government is committed to supporting Central Coast Council manage local waterways by supporting local dredging projects to ensure safe navigation of channels and entrances, including at Ettalong and The Entrance.

“Our local waterways also create flow-on benefits for tourism, marine-based businesses and the wider Central Coast economy.”

The $2 million Boating Access Dredging Program replaces the Rescuing Our Waterways Program, which was previously administered by Crown Lands.

To enable projects to commence as soon as possible, applicants will be able to receive up to 25 per cent of the grant value as soon as the “conditions of grant” document is finalised. All projects to receive funding must also be completed within 18 months of securing funding.

Applications are now being accepted and will close on Friday, 30 April.
