Central Coast commuters are set to benefit from improved safety and greater access to Niagara Park and Ourimbah Stations, with the two projects granted planning approval.

Parliamentary Secretary for the Central Coast and Member for Terrigal Adam Crouch said new lifts are being delivered through the NSW Government’s Transport Access Program.

“These accessibility upgrades have undergone the design phase and the community consultation phase, and now have planning approval to begin,” Mr Crouch said.

“The two multi-million dollar projects will make access to Niagara Park and Ourimbah Stations easier for train customers, including people with a disability, limited mobility, parents and carers with prams and travellers with luggage.

“Gartner Rose has been tasked with the construction and work will begin in the coming weeks.”

The Niagara Park Station upgrade includes three new lifts, a new ‘kiss and ride’ spaces and an accessible parking space, a pedestrian crossing across the Washington Avenue commuter car park, platform regrading, a new pathway from the station to the Railway Crescent bus stop, five new bicycle hoops, and lighting, CCTV and signage upgrades.

The Ourimbah Station upgrade includes two new lifts connecting the existing footbridge to the platforms, a new station entrance from the Pacific Highway, new stairs from the footbridge to Platform 2, a new access ramp from the Shirley Street commuter car park to Platform 1, platform resurfacing, and lighting and CCTV upgrades.

Transport for NSW will continue to liaise with key stakeholders during the detailed design and construction phases of the project, including with Ourimbah RSL to identify measures to reduce potential impacts to the nearby WWI Monument and Garden.

At the 2019 NSW Election, the NSW Government committed to install lifts at Tuggerah, Ourimbah, Lisarow, Niagara Park and Narara, as well as up to 220 car park spaces at Tuggerah. Planning is currently underway for the upgrades at Tuggerah and Narara Stations, and community feedback is currently being accepted on the upgrade of Lisarow Station.
